We have a pastor and team of Elders here at Highway Vineyard Church. The team look after and oversee all aspects of church life, developments and activities.
God put in Simon's heart the desire to make a difference in the London Borough of Newham back in 1987 and when Simon became the Pastor of Highway Church in October 2002 it became a reality. After obtaining a Bachelor of Divinity, Simon had worked for a few years with Epping Forest Youth For Christ on the detached youth work team, before becoming an assistant pastor of Vineyard Church in Loughton where he served for 11 years. Simon is Chair of the Transform Newham team (an initiative involving numerous churches of differing denominations from across the London Borough of Newham).
Simon is married to Claire and has two sons, Joseph and Jonathan. He loves cricket and walking his dogs.
William is married to Minerva (aka Minnie) and has two children Ebony and Liam. He was born in Montserrat in the West Indies but his family moved to England when he was nine months old. Since then he has lived in the East End of London, growing up in Hackney and moving to Stratford around 25 years ago. William is a long serving Civil Servant.
William has been a Christian for over 20 years and has been involved in children's and men's ministry. He felt the need to attend a local church so that he could be involved in ministry in his community and he joined Highway in 2003. As an Elder his heart is to encourage men to reach their full potential as Christians and to help them grow in their faith.
In his spare time William enjoys keeping fit, loves music and likes to travel.
Mark and his wife Clare moved to Stratford in 2009, and joined Highway soon after.
They have two grown up children.
Mark has been active in church leadership for about 30 years. He and Clare have led Life Groups, supported Life Group Leaders, and set up and run children’s work. Mark has also been involved in overseas mission, running leadership seminars for majority world church leaders.
Mark is a project manager by training and has spent many years leading and working in teams. He enjoys a team-based environment and the opportunity to encourage and support others. He has an aptitude for strategic thinking and wants to use this to help Highway Church to continue to grow successfully both in numbers and spiritual life.
His main interests are keeping fit, French language and culture, gardening, DIY and studying theology.
